Great little tool

I've always wanted a level laser tool for odd jobs around the house. I first bought a Johnson Rotary Laser Level Kit. Unfortunately the tripod didn't go very high and the mounting mechanism isn't universal with other tripods. I went over to Home Depot and noticed this little guy. The box says the mounting thread is 1/4 - 20. Assuming this was universal, I went ahead and bought it. I'm happy to say the Bosch GLL2-10 fits perfectly on my camera tripod (Sunpak 7500 Pro). Using this tool is pretty much fail safe. Just insert the batteries on the bottom and turn the switch on (making sure the tool is secure). The laser itself is bright for indoor use. I have yet to try it outside. For around a C-Note, I highly recommend it.
Please note this self-leveling tool will only work on a relatively flat surface (plus or minus 4 degrees).

Bosch GLL2-10 vs DeWalt DW087 LaserChalkLine

I am installing a row of ceiling lights. I just tried both of these laser products to project a line on the ceiling. When placed on the floor, the Bosch projects a faint laser line on the ceiling starting about 8 feet forward of its floor position. The DeWalt projects a bright laser line over the entire length of the ceiling even behind its position on the floor. The apparent quality differences between the Bosch and DeWalt are equally one sided. Don't waste your time buying the Bosch. Spend the extra $50 and buy the DeWalt.

Great self leveling laser for the price

My first buy was a Johnson level which put out a faint line in a lit room and was not working out, I then picked up a Bosch Gll2-10 and was impressed with how bright the beam was and distance it covered. Unfortunately my son was building a large project that needed a good level and borrowed my Bosch ..... Needless to say its been six months and doesn't look like I will see it again its now one of his favorite tools!
